Crossing the border seems to be no big deal. However, the customs officer pulls us over and they want to control everything. With strict and firm voice she asks what we carry in all the bags. Then she wants to control the side car and she realizes that there is a baby and once the dam is broken. She finds Leonardo very sweet and smiles at him constantly. From then on, she has a very nice voice and is super friendly. She shows me where immigration is and also there are all extremely helpful and want Leonardo even into their arms. It seems that a baby is an advantage here 🙂
When we are looking for a hotel in Rosarito and Francesca negotiate the price, she calls me and tells me I should come with Leonardo and show him! She is not stupid and has quickly learned that, the people in Mexico love childrens she get with Leonardo an extra discount 🙂 The next day I quickly an oil and candles changes, adjust valves, Replace Pads at the sidecar and everything necessary, that we are ready for the next 10’000Km. ********************** Nachdem ich in San Diego die Bremsbeläge für den Seitenwagen bekommen habe, kaufen wir noch einen neuen Helm und ein Regendress für Francesca. Dann entscheiden wir gleich nach Mexico zu fahren und nicht wie geplant einen Tag später. Der Grenzübertritt scheint keine grosse Sache zu sein. Die Zöllnerin winkt uns aber gleich und sie will alles kontrollieren. Mit strenger und bestimmter Stimme fragt sie was wir in den Taschen mitführen. Als sie den Seitenwagen kontrollieren will, merkt sie, dass da noch ein Baby ist und sogleich ist der Damm gebrochen. Sie findet Leonardo sehr süss und lächelt ihn ständig an. Von da an hat sie eine sehr nette Stimme und ist super freundlich. Sie zeigt mir wo die Immigration ist und auch da sind alle extrem hilfsbereit und wollen Leonardo sogar in die Arme nehmen. Es scheint, dass ein Baby hier ein Vorteil ist 🙂 Als wir in Rosarito ein Hotel suchen und Francesca den Preis verhandelt, ruft sie mich und sagt mir ich soll mit Leonardo vorbeikommen und ihn zeigen! Sie ist ja nicht blöd und hat schnell gelernt, dass bei den Kinderliebenden Mexikanern, es mit Leonardo noch ein extra Rabatt gibt 🙂 Am nächsten Tag mache ich noch schnell einen Öl- und Kerzenwechsel, Ventile einstellen, Bremsbeläge beim Seitenwagen wechseln und alles nötige, dass wir bereit für die nächsten 10’000Km sind.
