Everything is ready and fly today to get the bike off. I say good-bye to Leonardo and Francesca and get me on my way. I am leaving and am soon over the sea. Let’s see where the flight brings me…

Alles ist bereit und fliege heute ab um den Töff ab zu holen. Ich verabschiede mich von Leonardo und Francesca und mach mich auf den Weg. Ich hebe ab und bin schon bald über dem Meer. Mal sehen wohin mich der Flug bringt…

19.5.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Preparations / Vorbereitungen

In the meantime the bike has arrived and I can pick it up. So book a flight and prepare everything else and gather documents. Then I am ready and I am glad to see the bike again after a long time.

Unterdessen ist das Bike angekommen und ich kann es abholen. Also einen Flug buchen und alles andere vorbereiten und Dokumente zusammensuchen. Dann bin ich bereit und ich freue mich den Töff nach längerem wieder zu sehen.

17.5.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         House work / Hausbau

There is still a lot of work in the house. In addition to the installation of refrigerator and washing machine, we need curtains and these still need to be installed. Next, I paint the stairs inside and build a handgrip on the stairs outside. Of course, everything with old or used material. As before, there is no need to spend money that is not necessary. This is even a lot of fun, especially when you see on what all the neighbors and all other people spend their money on.

Es gibt noch viel Arbeit hier im Hause. Neben dem Einbau von Kühlschrank und Waschmaschine, brauchen wir Vorhänge und diese müssen noch montiert werden. Weiter streiche ich die Treppe innen und baue ein Handgeländer an die Aussentreppe.  Selbstverständlich alles mit altem oder gebrauchtem Material das ich wieder verwende. Nach wie vor gilt es kein Geld auszugeben, das nicht nötig ist. Das macht sogar viel Spass, speziell wenn man sie für was alles die Nachbarn und alle anderen Leute ihr Geld ausgeben.

14.5.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Leonardo’s birthday / Leonardo’s Geburtstag

Today we are celebrating Leonardo’s second birthday. He gets some presents and has a lot of fun. I give him a sandbox. That sounds simple, but it’s a lot of work. I still live under the motto of not spending money. So I’m looking for 4 boards, nail these together. Then I drive to the river and shovel a lot of gravel from the river. At home I sieve the sand out. The stones I use to decorate the garden.

Heute feiern wir Leonardos 2. Geburtstag. Er bekommt einige Geschenke und hat einen riesen Spass daran. Ich schenke ihm einen Sandkasten. Das hört sich einfach an, ist aber viel Arbeit. Nach wie vor lebe ich unter dem Motto, kein Geld ausgeben. So suche ich 4 Bretter, nagle diese zusammen. Dann fahre ich zum Fluss und schaufle viel Kies aus dem Fluss. Zuhause siebe ich den Sand heraus. Die anfallenden Steine verwende ich zur Dekoration des Gartens.

8.5.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Strange neighbors / Komische Nachbarn

After shopping I am stopped by the carabinieri. I thought, let’s have look whether the Swiss-German trick here also works. So, for 10 minutes talking in Swiss German to the 2 policemen. And see also in Italy it works.

Then I am confronted with our society and I am worried about whether I am still able to live in it. A neighbor is much obsessed about her stuff and look all her children’s toys, does not talk much and the children sit in front of the TV. The only ones in the neighborhood are the Pakistanis. Let’s see how this will be when I’m back home…

Nach dem einkaufen werde ich von den Carabinieri angehalten. Ich dachte mir, mal schauen ob der Schweizerdeutsch Trick hier auch funktioniert. Also 10 Minuten lang die 2 Polizisten auf Mundart vollquatschen. Und siehe da auch in Italien funktioniert es.

Dann werde ich mit unserer Gesellschaft konfrontiert und ich mach mir Sorgen, ob ich noch fähig bin darin zu leben. Eine Nachbarin ist sehr Besitz besessen und schottet alle Spielsachen ihrer Kinder konsequent ab, redet nicht viel und die Kinder sitzen vor dem Fernseher. Die einzigen im Quartier sind die Pakistaner. Mal sehen wie das wird wenn ich wieder Zuhause bin…

6.5.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         4 year anniversary / 4 Jähriges Jubiläum

Wow, I just notice that I am already 4 years on the road. It is not fired because it does not matter to me how long I’ve been on the road. But one thing is certain; it will not be another four years until I return to Switzerland.

Wow, ich merke gerade, dass ich bereits 4 Jahre unterwegs bin. Gefeuert wird nicht, da es fuer mich nicht wichtig ist, wie lange ich schon unterwegs bin. Aber eines ist sicher, es wird nicht nochmals 4 Jahre gehen, bis ich wieder in der Schweiz bin.

28.4.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Again everything is going wrong / Wieder läuft alles schief

I’m all too stressful and I do not want to fly, also because the ticket is very expensive. Then I get a message from the agent, which I have to pay a fine if I overstay the permit. This is exactly the answer I needed and I ask how much I have to pay. A maximum of $ 300 is cheaper than the expensive flight tomorrow. So just run into the fine and fly later.
Francesca then orders dollars for me. Since she does this with the phone from her mother, the mother must also pick up the money. But right now she does not find her ID card any more. Also, she must make a passport photo, then apply to the authority and various documents until she finally hat her new ID card. Then it goes to the bank to get the dollars.

Mir ist alles zu stressig und ich will nicht fliegen, zudem ist das Ticket sehr teuer. Da bekomme ich die Meldung vom Agent, dass ich auf jeden Fall eine Busse zahlen muss, wenn ich das TECAT überziehe. Das ist genau die Antwort die ich brauchte und ich frage wie viel ich zahlen muss. Maximal 300$ was günstiger ist als der teure Flug morgen. Also einfach in die Busse reinlaufen lassen und später fliegen.

Dann bestellt Francesca bei ihrer Bank Dollars für mich. Da sie dies mit dem Telefon von ihrer Mutter macht, muss auch die Mutter das Geld abholen. Aber gerade jetzt findet sie ihre ID-Karte nicht mehr. Also muss sie zuerst ein Passfoto machen, dann zur Behörde und verschiedene Dokumente beantragen, bis sie schliesslich ihr neue ID-Karte hat. Dann geht es auf die Bank um die Dollars zu holen.

17.4.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         TECAT expires / TECAT läuft ab

I have found a new forwarder, but I still have to provide some documents. This is not as easy as the documents must be in Portuguese and no notary in Italy wants them to sign. Francesca calls the Brazilian Embassy several times, but they cannot help either.
Then the new forwarder finds out that the TECAT (registration of the bike) expires at the end of this month. This is another problem. She also tells me, only I personally can extend it and so I must fly to Brazil as soon as possible. This means tomorrow morning! I call the shipping agent and try to book a flight immediately. Let’s see how that ends…

Ich habe einen neuen Forwarder gefunden, jedoch muss ich noch einige Dokumente liefern. Dies ist nicht so einfach, da die Dokumente in Portugiesisch sein müssen und kein Notar in Italien will sie unterzeichnen. Francesca ruft einige Male die Brasilianische Botschaft an, doch auch diese können nicht helfen.

Dann findet der neue Forwarder heraus, dass das TECAT (Registrierung des Bike) Ende dieses Monats abläuft. Das ist ein weiteres Problem. Sie sagt mir auch, nur ich persönlich kann es verlängern und so muss ich wohl schnellstmöglich nach Brasilien fliegen. Das bedeutet morgen früh! Ich rufe den Shipping Agent an und versuche sofort einen Flug zu buchen. Mal sehen wie das endet…

31.3.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Riding lesson / Reitstunde

As the horse farm is so close, Francesca is trying to ride it. The idea is that later on she can take a ride to the river with Leonardo, play a little with him or make a picnic and ride home again. Possibly Leonardo can also ride on a pony.
Leonardo feels well on the horse and the wiggling makes him tired, so he almost falls asleep. Francesca is still learning how to steer a horse and then the hour is over. Let’s see when we go riding again…

Da der Pferdehof so nah ist, probiert Francesca es mit reiten. Die Idee ist, dass sie später mal mit Leonardo einen Ausritt an den Fluss machen kann, dort etwas spielen oder ein Picknick machen und wieder nach Hause reiten kann. Evt. kann Leonardo auch auf einem Pony mitreiten.

Leonardo fühlt sich wohl auf dem Pferd und das wackeln macht ihn müde, so dass er beinahe einschläft. Francesca lernt noch ein wenig wie mach ein Ross steuert und dann ist die Stunde auch schon wieder vorbei. Mal sehen wann wir wieder reiten gehen…

15.3.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Show jumping / Springreiten

At the farm where we visit the horses every day, a show jumping is organized. We go there naturally, and Leonardo can look at over 200 horses at once. For me a good opportunity to talk with other people. The riders are rather rich people and better educated and so many can speak a little bit English.
By the way, I try to find a new shipper, which is more professional and cheaper to solve the shipping problems. Let’s see if I find one.

Auf dem Bauernhof wo wir die Pferde jeden Tag besuchen, wird ein Springreiten organisiert. Da gehen wir natürlich hin und so kann Leonardo über 200 Pferde auf einmal anschauen. Für mich auch eine Gelegenheit mit anderen Leuten zu sprechen. Die Reiter sind eher reiche Leute und besser ausgebildet und so spricht der eine oder andere English.

Nebenbei versuche ich einen neuen Shipper zu finden, der professioneller und billiger ist um die Probleme beim Verschiffen zu lösen. Mal sehen ob ich einen finde.

24.2.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Set up the flat / Wohnung einrichten

We live right next to the grandmother of Leonardo in an apartment which is not yet finished. So the main task is to make everything to be comfortable. We need crockery, chairs, carpets, bedding, doors and a railing so that the little one does not fall down the stairs. This takes time and money, but must be done.

Wir wohnen gleich neben der Grossmutter von Leonardo und diese Wohnung ist noch nicht ganz fertig. So ist die Hauptaufgabe alles her zu richten um bequem wohnen zu können. Wir brauchen Geschirr, Stühle, Teppiche, Bettzeug, Türen und ein Geländer damit der Kleine nicht die Treppe herunter fällt. Dies braucht Zeit und Geld, aber muss einfach sein.

18.2.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Playing with Leonardo / Spielen mit Leonardo

Since I do not have much to do, I use the time and play a lot with Leonardo. Same like in Peru I go every evening for a little walk with him. Since it is still winter in Italy, it is not always so funny. But we tell ourselves instead of TVs the little one has to go outside and so we must of course with. I go with him every day to the nearby playground. In the beginning, he sometimes hits the head on the slide. But after a short time, he learns how to do it, and I let him alone climb up and slide down.

Da ich nicht viel zu tun habe, nutze ich die Zeit und spiele viel mit Leonardo. Auch machen wir wie in Peru jeden Abend einen kleinen Spaziergang. Da es in Italien immer noch Winter ist, ist das nicht immer so lustig. Aber wir sagen uns anstelle Fernsehens muss der Kleine nach draussen und so müssen wir natürlich mit. Ich gehe mit ihm auch jeden Tag auf den nahegelegenen Spielplatz. Am Anfang schlägt er ab und zu den Kopf auf der Rutschbahn an. Doch nach kurzer Zeit lernt er wie er es machen muss und ich lasse ihn nun alleine heraufklettern und auf die Rutschbahn.

16.2.2017        Atina, IT       Km: 153389         Arriving in Italy / Ankunft in Italien

As always, a long flight is tedious and I cannot sleep. But I’m arriving and Francesca is picking me up at the airport. Then we go to Atina where I see Leonardo again after a long time. He is a bit unsure, but soon we play again as we have played in Peru. In Italy it is still winter and quite cold. Especially, because I’m coming from warm Brazil. Let’s see if I get used to it…

Wie immer ist ein langer Flug mühsam und ich kann nicht schlafen. Ich komme aber an und Francesca holt mich am Flughafen ab. Dann fahren wir nach Atina wo ich Leonardo nach langem wieder sehe. Er ist etwas unsicher, doch schon bald spielen wir wieder wie wir in Peru gespielt haben. In Italien ist es noch Winter und recht kalt. Speziell, da ich vom warmen Brasilien komme. Mal sehen ob ich mich daran gewöhne…

As Travelpod closes its service, I had to set up a new page. This happens within a short time and is only a kind of emergency solution. As soon as I have more time I will gradually add more functions.
If someone cannot cope with the new blog, please just let me know.

Da Travelpod seinen Dienst schliesst, musste ich eine neue Seite einrichten. Dies geschieht innert kurzer Zeit und ist nur eine Art Notlösung. Sobald ich mehr Zeit habe werde ich nach und nach weitere Funktionen einfügen.
