Alice Springs, Australia 21.10.2014 Alice Springs, Australia Km: 80936 1000 Km Dirt Road / 1000 Km Schotterstrasse We continue on the gravel road and the road getting more and more worse and is finally a Dirt Road. From the border Western Australia – Northern Territory also has a lot of sand on the road, so much that I cannot drive anymore. Two times we fall down when driving slowly and once Francesca still has the foot under the machine without being injured. A little further we see how the grader makes the road. This is good for 4WD but not for us, because now the sand is evenly distributed over the whole road. In addition, corrugation and bull dust, take us over crest’s and DIP’s. Sometimes there are all together! So it goes sometimes only at walking pace on and on ….. …. done!!! After about 1000 km gravel road I’m tired and glad that the sweating is coming to an end. Now we continue on the asphalt road next to some famous rock formations. Here I note that here every day thousands of tourists come to make the same photo shoot that have previously been made ​​hundreds of thousands times. Crazy world! After anther bush camp we continues to Alice Springs and look for a quiet hostel. I do need a few days’ rest, because we made in 2 weeks over 3000 kilometers. ********************** Es geht weiter auf der Schotterstrasse und die Piste wir zunehmend schlechter und ist nur noch eine Dirt Road. Von der Grenze Western Australia – Northern Territory ist zu viel Sand auf der Strasse, dass ich kaum mehr fahren kann. Zwei Mal stürzen wir bei langsamer Fahrt und einmal hat Francesca noch den Fuss unter der Maschine ohne dass sie verletzt ist. Etwas weiter sehen wir wie der Grader die Strasse macht. Dies ist gut für 4WD aber nicht für uns, da er den Sand gleichmässig über die ganze Strasse verteilt. Zudem kommen immer wieder Abschnitte mit heftigem Wellblech (corrugation) und Tiefsand-Verwehungen (bulldust), die über Crest’s und DIP’s führen. Manchmal gibt es auch alles zusammen! So geht es zum Teil nur im Schritttempo weiter und weiter….. …. Geschafft!!! Nach über 1000 Kilometer Gravel Road bin ich müde und froh dass die Schinderei ein Ende hat. Nun geht es weiter auf geteerter Strasse neben einigen markanten Felsformationen, bis wir in Alice Springs ankommen und in einem ruhigen Hostel uns ausruhen können. Ich brauche unbedingt einige Tage Ruhe, da wir in 2 Wochen über 3000 Kilometer gemacht haben.
