Patong, Thailand
27.5.2014 Patong Beach (Phuket), Thailand Km: 62202 Problems with the police / Probleme mit der Polizei
I am a little surprised when I walk in the evening in Patong Beach in the party street around. I see more Go-Go bars and tourists in Pattaya. We also feel more the curfew than in Kao Lak. The police is not as strict as in Bangkok, but the go-go bars close at 22:00! But they check the helmet law better and stop me because I drive a small piece without a helmet. I then try the game with Swiss German (I do not understand anything and speak only in Swiss German). This has always helped, because the police are basically lazy and won’t big effort with language problems. In this case, they are very aggressive and have a touch of neo-fascism. Because I do not give out the documents, a policeman held my bike and tore around on plastic parts. Because I do not like this, I try to discourage him from this; the he starts to push me and yells at me aggressively. I tried to make them understand that they should not touch me what I got small hits. This is too much for me and I try to move off. But I drive not for a long time because they throw me a chain between the spokes. Then one mounted a locker to the chain and the other hit me a few times, so that in the evening I had red spots. I see pride and satisfaction in their faces as they drive off and they maybe think, now he is locked and must wait (or towed). They probably did not expect that I am well equipped with tools and I ask Francesca what it is for a chain. A Chinese she says. J So I take out my blade and have the chain sawed in less than 2 minutes. With a lot of adrenaline in blood I cut it off to the hotel. Why the situation has escalated is not only my fault, but it was wrong of me as they were right with the helmet law. Let’s see if the game goes on and I’ll stop at customs at the latest. In any case, I’m leading 2-1.
