Stung Treng, Cambodia
3.5.2014 Stung Treng, Cambodia Km: 59202 Country number 28 / Land Nummer 28
After the monster ride yesterday today I start cosier. Let’s see how far I get today and if I can cross the border to Cambodia. The drive is less exciting (just boring). The south of the country is flat and with high temperatures only straight ahead.
I’m making good progress and reach the customs early. However, the Immigration Officer sends me back to the Custom Control. But I could not find them. I well see a building on which stands “Custom Post Office “. There then comes a man in swimwear and says I need just to go in there. Then the ‘swimwearly’ stamped my carnet! Maybe they think the name is post office because they stamp anything. I did not care who stamp my carnet, the main thing I have a stamp in it.
The Immigration Officer then stamped my passport and wants to charge $ 2 for it, because today’s weekend and the $ 2 is for the over time he has to do. But I do not play the game and look at straight in the eye and say definitely “no”. He then tried another 2 times before he returns me the passport.
On the side of Cambodia I have to wait half an hour for someone to come and will stamp my stuff. Only the visa can I get fast, probably because I have to pay $ 20 for it.
As I continue, I do not know a long tie on which side of the road I have to drive. I just drive right. Later I realize that it is the right side. That was in Laos or otherwise. Since I came to meet many wrong-way drivers 🙂
