On the other side is a ghost town called Bodie. I enjoy to see this town and I think all the time where I can stay overnight. The ghost town is located at over 2300 meters above sea level and it will be correspondingly cold. So I go back to the valley and see near the Mono Lake a street in heading in the bush. I decide to seek a place and I see a small rock Where I want to hide me. In the final meters the Bike stop suddenly. There is another problem with the clutch, but this time at a very unfavorable place. Located far away from a major city, and a few kilometers from the next main road. I setup the tent and know that I now big problems. I wonder if I should get help or try to fix it by myself. I decide that I open the engine and look what is broken. I immediately start the work because there is still daylight. When I see the clutch, I realize that it is blown again even I rode only a short way off road. I have installed in Guatemala no original clutch which was probably a mistake. Luckily I still have the old clutch and so I can like last time reduce the gap with an additional disc. I’m build the engine back together and then I have to stop working because of the darkness. Next morning I mount the exhaust and make a test run. It seems to hold and I made it in record time. Let’s see if it holds, because I have to go back off road the same way again… \n\n **********************\n\n Als erstes geht’s nach Osten durch die Berge. Auf der anderen Seite ist eine Geisterstadt namens Bodie. Diese schaue ich mir an und überlege wo ich übernachten kann. Die Geisterstadt liegt auf über 2300 MüM und es wird entsprechend kalt sein. Also fahre ich wieder zurück in das Tal und sehe in der Nähe des Mono Lake eine Strasse in die in den Busch führt. Ich entscheide dort einen Platz zu suchen und sehe einen kleinen Fels hinter dem ich mich verstecken will. Ich fahre dahin und auf den letzten Metern bleibt der Töff auf einmal stehen. Es ist wieder ein Problem mit der Kupplung, nur diesmal an einem sehr ungünstigen Ort. Weit weg von einem grösseren Ort und einige Kilometer von der Hauptstrasse entfernt. Ich schlage das Zelt auf und weiss, dass ich jetzt in richtigen Schwierigkeiten stecke. Ich überlege ob ich Hilfe holen soll oder selber mal schauen. Ich entscheide dass ich den Motor öffne und schaue was defekt ist. Ich beginne gleich da es noch hell ist. Als ich die Kupplung sehe, merke ich dass sie wieder durchgebrannt ist obwohl ich nur ein kleines Stück Offroad gefahren bin. Und dies viel schlimmer als das letzte Mal. Ich habe in Guatemala keine originale Kupplung eingebaut was wohl ein Fehler war. Zum Glück habe ich noch die alte Kupplung dabei und so kann ich wie beim letzten Mal die Lücke mit einer zusätzlichen Scheibe verkleinern. Ich baue den Motor wieder zusammen und muss dann wegen der Dunkelheit die Arbeit unterbrechen. Am nächsten baue ich den Auspuff an und mache einen Probelauf. Es scheint zu halten und ich habe es in Rekordzeit geschafft die Reparatur durch zu führen.
