The detour goes over hills and miserable roads and we lost our way, what I do not like. Francesca but means, go on! The road is getting smaller and worse and we ask at every opportunity for the way. Many do not understand us, but help very cordially. A worker pointing with his finger in a village and say “English”! He then shows the exact route by driving with his motorbike in front of us. In the village he calls the doctor and he trying with a few words in English to describe us the way. Because it was still not clear for me, he draws a map on a paper. After that, he also sits on the moped and drive 3 Miles in front of us to show us the crossroads where we have to turn. I have rarely had such a great encounter with the local people. He also has the joy that they could help us, as seen in the faces of the Burmese. Since I can only say: Priceless. In Mandalay, we made a tour in the city to the main attractions. Temples everywhere! Even on the road to Mandalay we met almost too many temples and now there is certainly enough time for the next time. Let’s see what awaits us in Bagan.\n\n **********************\n\n Auf dem Weg nach Mandalay müssen wir einen Umweg fahren, da die Regierung das Fahren auf der Hauptstrasse verboten hat. Der Umweg führt über Berge und miserable Strassen. Dabei verfahren wir uns, was mir gar nicht gefällt. Francesca meint dabei aber, fahre weiter! Die Strasse wird immer kleiner und schlechte und wir fragen bei jeder Gelegenheit nach dem Weg. Viele verstehen uns nicht, helfen aber sehr herzlich. Ein Arbeiter zeigt mit dem Finger in ein Dorf und sagt „English”. Er fährt dann mit dem Moped vor uns um den genauen Weg zu zeigen. Im Dorf ruft er den Doktor und der versucht mit ein paar Wörtern in English uns den Weg zu beschreiben. Da dies nicht reicht, zeichnet er noch eine notdürftige Karte. Danach sitzt er ebenfalls auf das Moped und fährt die nächsten 3 Meilen vor uns um uns die Kreuzung zu zeigen, wo wir abbiegen müssen. Ich habe selten eine so tolle Begegnung mit der lokalen Bevölkerung gehabt. Man hat auch die Freude, dass sie uns helfen konnten, in den Gesichtern der Burmesen gesehen. Da kann ich nur sagen: Unbezahlbar.\n\n In Mandalay haben wir einen Stadtrundgang zu den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten gemacht. Extrem viele Tempel. Schon auf dem Weg nach Mandaly haben wir uns schon fast zu viele Tempel gesehen und nun reicht es sicher mal für die nächste Zeit.
