I am happy because DHL despite a public holiday has openly. But unfortunately the package is not there. Only for the expensive express service, the packets can be picked up at this service station. Mine is in the Central Post Office, which is now closed because of the holiday day. So I spent a relaxing day and try again on Sunday. The post office is open, but she did not find my package first. After looking for a long time, tells me a woman that it stored in a mailbox and I first had to go pick up the removal order in a different building. I asked for help and a woman accompanied me and translated everything. After I was in 7 different the offices I have the removal order. I have to fill out a form and then the packet is searched. After half an hour they can find the parcel in the room where I asked the first time for it. Now I have to order through customs and a man say to me that I must pay 16,000 Nepal Rupee (about 160 $)! So I say “no” start a discussion, because this is too much money for me. The Custom Officer called around a bit and I tell him that it is for the bike and I have a carnet de passage for it. Of course I do not have it with me and have to go back to the hotel. After making the Custom Officer more phones and says I have to pay! I say again NO and threatened me to call in the Swiss embassy. I have so said a magic word and the officer gives me immediately a discount of 50 %! Since I have the mechanism quickly understood, I repeat the magic word again and again and there were then more and more discount. Finally, we agreed after an hour of negotiations to 30$. As I said earlier, in the corruption there’s also a good thing: you can negotiate.But I was still ****** off and I feel a little sick again. \n\n I try to sleep a little, because the electrical power is off at the moment. In all Asian countries, there have been power cuts, but never as bad as in KTM, Nepal. Here are the times when the current is switched off: Monday 1am to 10am 2pm to 7pm Tuesday 3am to 9am 1pm to 6pm Wednesday 10am to 5pm 7pm to 12pm Thursday 9am to 3pm 6pm to 11pm Friday 8am to 2pm 6pm to 11pm Saturday 6am to 1pm 5pm to 10pm Sunday 5am to 11am 3pm to 9pm\n\n **********************\n\n Beim Heimfahren von der Botschaft, fahre ich bei DHL vorbei um meine Ersatzteile ab zu holen. Ich freue mich, da DHL trotz eines Feiertages offen hat. Aber leider ist das Packet nicht da. Nur für den teuren Expressservice können die Pakete abgeholt werden. Meines ist im Central Post Office, das heute wegen des Feuertages geschlossen ist. Also einen Relax day und am Sonntag nochmals vorbei. Die Post hat offen, jedoch finden sie mein Packet zuerst nicht. Nach langem suchen, sagt mir eine Frau, dass es in einem Postfach lagert und ich müsse zuerst den Abholschein in einem anderen Gebäude abholen gehen. Ich bat um Hilfe und eine Frau begleitete mich und übersetzte alles. Nachdem ich in 7 Büro war und den Abholschein habe, muss ich ein Formular ausfüllen und dann wird das Packet gesucht. Nach einer halben Stunde finden sie das Packet im Raum wo ich als ersten danach gefragt habe. Nun muss ich damit durch den Zoll und einer sagt, ich müsse 16’000 Nepal Rupie zahlen (ca. 160 Franken)!!! So nicht sage ich mir und lasse mich auf eine Diskussion ein. Der Custom Officer Telefoniert ein wenig herum und ich sage ihm, dass es für das Motorrad ist und ich ein Carnet dazu habe. Natürlich habe ich es nicht bei mir und muss nochmals zurück ins Hotel. Danach macht der Custom Officer weitere Telefone und sagt ich müsse bezahlen. Ich sage NEIN und drohe, dass ich in die Schweizer Botschaft anrufe. Ich habe damit ein Zauberwort gesagt und der Officer gibt mir einen Rabatt von 50%. Da ich den Mechanismus sehr schnell begriffen habe, wieder holte ich „Botschaft“ einige male und es gab danach immer mehr Rabatt. Schlussendlich einigten wir uns nach einer Stunde Verhandlung auf 30 Franken. Wie ich schon früher sagte, bei der Korruption gibt’s auch was Gutes: man kann verhandeln.\n\n Ich war aber trotzdem sauer und fühle mich wieder ein wenig krank. Ich versuche ein wenig zu schlafen, da im Moment der Strom abgeschaltet ist. In allen asiatischen Ländern gab es immer wieder Stromunterbrüche, aber so schlimm wie in KTM, Nepal war es noch nie.
