I made good progress and considered to make crossing the border to Amritsar on the same day. In Lahore I decided to go further towards the border. Unfortunately, the police would not let me on the highway and I had a detour of a half hour. But I’ll try to cross the border anyway because I have no Pakistan money anymore. When I got to the border all police looked at the clock and told me I’m late and it had to hurry. The Pakistani customs officers rushed so much that they do not even writing down all the information from me and ran between custom and passport control. In 10 minutes it was done (record)! I drove on the Indian side to the border and saw the close ceremony start soon (ceremony with many thousand people). Maybe that’s why I had to hurry. On Indian side I saw two motorcycles, a Russian and a Belgian. It is these two who were always 2 days before me in Baluchistan and now I’ve caught up with them. The Indian Customs took a little more time, but it was the relatively fast. After clearing customs, I waited until the two motorcyclists drove by and together we drove in a Africa Twin convoy to Amritsar.\n\n Many ask me: “It was really dangerous in Pakistan.” Well, I do not know, but I suspect it was dangerous. 2 Czech women were kidnapped beginning of the year and there are every week a bomb in Quetta. I have not felt the danger and uncomfortable I was not. Except that armed police come along when you go shopping and ride with you, everything is normal and the people are nice. I think it’s a bit of Russian roulette with a very large magazine. You’re at the wrong time, wrong place, then it’s bad.\n\n **********************\n\n Nach ausgiebigem Schlaf fuhr ich um 9:00 los. Ich kam gut voran und überlegte mir, den Grenzübertritt nach Amritsar am gleichen Tag noch zu machen. In Lahore entschied ich weiter Richtung Grenze zu fahren. Leider liessen die Polizisten mich nicht auf den Highway und ich musste ein Umweg von 30 Fahren. Nun wir es knapp, aber ich versuche den Grenzübertritt doch, da ich kein Pakistanisches Geld mehr habe. Als ich zur Grenze kam schauten alle Polizisten auf die Uhr und sagten mir, ich sei spät daran und müsse mich beeilen. Die Pakistanischen Zöllner eilten so sehr, dass sie nicht mal alle Daten von mir aufschrieben und zwischen Custom und Passport Control rannten. In 10 Minuten war alles erledigt (Rekord)! Ich fuhr dann auf die Indische Seite und da fand die Border Close Zeremonie zwischen beiden Grenzen statt. Möglicherweise deshalb musste ich mich beeilen. Auf Indischer Seite sah ich 2 Motorräder ein Russe und ein Belgier. Es sind diese 2, die in Belutschistan immer 2 Tage vor mir waren und nun habe ich sie eingeholt. Der Indische Zoll nahm sich etwas mehr Zeit, es ging aber den noch relativ schnell. Nach dem Zoll wartete ich bis die 2 Motorradfahrer vorbeifuhren und gemeinsam fuhren wir in einem Africa Twin Konvoy nach Amritsar.\n\n Viele Fragen mich: „war es wirklich gefährlich in Pakistan”. Nun, ich weiss es nicht, vermute aber, ja es war gefährlich. 2 Tschechinnen wurden anfangs Jahr entführt und in Quetta gibt es jede Woche ein Bombenanschlag. Gefühlt habe ich die Gefahr nicht und unwohl war mir auch nicht. Ausser dass bewaffnete Polizisten mitkommen, wenn du einkaufen gehst und mit dir mitfahren ist alles normal und die Leute sind nett. Ich denke es ist ein bisschen Russisches Roulett mit einem sehr grossen Magazin.
